No. 1 Shenandoah Soars Over Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. - No. 1/1 Shenandoah University returned to the diamond Wednesday afternoon with a 5-2 non-league victory at Messiah College.

Senior Ben Hendrickson (4-0) scattered six hits, allowing two runs (one earned) in 6.0 innings before turning it over to junior Bryce Sears for the final nine outs.

Sears faced one batter over the minimum in earning his first save of the spring.

The two pitchers combined for five strikeouts.

Offensively, Shenandoah (23-2) scored single runs in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings to dispatch the Falcons (14-13).

Sophomore Joey Donofrio hit his second home run of the season with a solo shot in the fifth while senior All-America Greg Van Sickler got things started with a RBI double in the second.

Clint DeHavenMike Smith and Keaton Neeb had the other three RBIs; Neeb drove in the eventual game-winner fourth inning single.

Van Sickler had two of the Hornets seven hits and fellow All-America Kevin Brashears scored two runs.

SU continues non-conference play on Thursday with a doubleheader at Lebanon Valley.
