RAMAPO TOPS BARUCH, 12-1 IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Brooklyn, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Baruch College, 12-1 today at MCU Park. The Roadrunners improve to 16-6 overall while the Bearcats fall to 9-13.

Ramapo scored one run in the first and second innings to take a two run lead before Baruch scored one run in the bottom of the second, 2-1. Nick DiGirolamo singled in the top of the first inning and stole second before moving to third base on a infield ground out, he later scored on a pass ball for Ramapo. In the second inning, Peter Dacenko ripped a triple before Rob Dimperio knocked him home with a RBI single, 2-0.

The Bearcats with an RBI double to come within one run, 2-1 before Ramapo added four runs on three hits in the third inning to take a 6-1 lead. The bases were loaded for Dacenko as he ripped his first home run of the season, Pat Driscoll, DiGirolamo and Dan Mauriello scored. In the sixth inning, John Capurano singled to lead of the inning and later scored with the bases loaded on a Bearcat error before Mauriello was hit by the pitcher with the bases loaded and Driscoll scored. Dacenko then knocked in two more RBI with a single, plating DiGirolamo and Matthew Hancock before Nick Romano ripped a two-RBI double, 12-1.

Brendan Kalinowski scattered six hits over seven innings of work as he struck out six in his first victory of the season. Thomas Portsey pitched the seventh inning and John Guagliardo pitched the ninth inning, neither pitcher gave up a hit, each recording three straight outs in the inning.

Dacenko was a double away from hitting for the cycle today as he finished 3-5 with two runs scored and six RBI. DiGirolamo was 2-5 with three runs scored while Dimperio was 3-5 with one run scored and one RBI.

The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday, April 12th at 5:00pm.
