Auburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Becker College today, 9-6 in a come from behind victory. The Roadrunners now stand 4-0 on the year.
Becker jumped out to a 3-0 before Ramapo scored in the third and fourth innings to tie the game, 3-3. The Roadrunners scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 8-3 lead. Rob Dimperio ripped a double to right center field, plating Kevin Knox who walked to lead off the inning before Christian Spurr doubled home Dimperio for the team's second run of the inning. With the bases loaded Dan Mauriello broke the game open with a line drive single up the middle, plating Hancock and Spurr. Lee Rozins recorded an infield hit to short stop, scoring Joseph Somma. Ramapo pounded out five hits in the inning, scoring five runs with the help of one Becker error.
Becker would get one run back in the seventh inning before Ramapo answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Rob Dimperio reached on an error to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a hard hit single to the outfield by Spurr before Matthew Hancock knocked in him in with a sacrifice fly to right field, 9-4. Becker scored two runs in the top of the ninth before Ramapo was able to record the final out of the game to seal the victory.
Daniel LaRocca (1-0) recorded the victory for Ramapo as he struck out four over 6.2 innings of work in relief while Mark Delannoy recorded the save and final out. Spurr was a perfect 3-3 in the game with two walks and three RBI and one run scored while Mauriello added two RBI.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow night when they take on Salem State College at 7:00pm.
