WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 23/RV Shenandoah University won its third straight game with a 12-11 non-league victory over Dickinson College Tuesday afternoon.

SU (8-4) took advantage of warm temperatures and a breeze blowing out at Bridgeforth Field to hit three home runs in the first four innings of Dickinson starter Ryan Kramer (1-1).

Senior Tucker Brown had the first and biggest of these three dingers, taking a 3-1 fastball from Kramer and crushing it over the left field fence for a grand slam home run in the bottom of the first.

After DC (2-1) answered with three runs on three hits in the second, junior Joey Donofrio hit a solo shot to lead off the Hornets second and Cory Nelson had a two-run shot to the deepest part of the park in the fourth.

Shenandoah eventually expanded its lead out to 11-4 before the Red Devils chased SU starter Jeff Stanek (2-0) with three runs on three hits in the seventh.

Stanek allowed six runs on six hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings.

Senior Patrick Moore recorded the final two outs of the seventh before freshman Adam Emerson worked the eighth.

Dickinson combined two hits and two walks to score four runs in that penultimate at-bat – Emerson finally got out of it by getting James Santoro looking with a runner on first.

In the ninth, Emerson walked the leadoff batter but then recorded the final three outs on a groundout, a lineout and a strikeout looking.

Donofrio led the Hornets with four hits in six at-bats with Nelson posting a 3 for 4, 4 RBI day that included a double, triple and home run.

Nelson missed being the first SU player since 1996 to hit for the cycle by failing to get the single. He was left on deck as Dickinson turned an inning-ending double play in the eighth.

Shenandoah hosts PSU-Abington on Thursday at 3:30.
