Terriers trot past Beavers

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Thomas College thumped the University of Maine at Farmington 11-0, 12-7 in North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division baseball action this afternoon.

The Beavers (3-16 overall, 2-9 NEAC East) are scheduled to visit Saint Joseph's College of Maine Friday for a non-conference twinbill, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Terriers improved to 16-9 (11-1).

In the opener, Thomas banged out 13 hits, while holding the Beavers to a Chris Whitney (Lisbon, Maine) single, in posting the 11-0 romp.

Joe Sullivan (Lewiston, Maine) took the loss for UMF with 12 hits allowed and four walks over 4.1 innings. The Terriers scored seven times in the fifth to chase Sullivan from the game.

Chris Farrar threw six innings of one-hit ball for the victory. Farrar issued one free pass and struck out five. Sean Twohig finished the shutout with an unblemished inning of work.

Ben Goodall singled twice and plated two runs for Thomas, while Rob Nutter smacked a two-run homer and Jeff Richardson singled, doubled and scored three runs. Josh Gray and Taylor Livingston each had a two-hit game in the win and Tom Camerson also drove in two runs.

In game two, the Beavers fell behind 12-0 over the first four innings and could catch the Terriers as Thomas took the 12-7 win.

Zach Keene (Livermore, Maine) singled, doubled and knocked in three runs for UMF, which also received two singles and a double from Ethan Jean (Jackson, Maine). A two-RBI single by Jack MacVane (Mechanic Falls, Maine) finished off a five-run fifth for the Beavers.

Ian McAlister (South Berwick, Maine) went two innings with six hits allowed and a walk as the Beavers utilized five pitchers in the contest.

Goodall powered Thomas with a single, a double and four RBI with Cody Vigue hammering a double and a triple with two RBI and Wes Perreault a single, a double and two RBI.

James McLamb walked one and set down five via strikeout over five innings to notch the win.
