Rams Finish Regular Season with Victory Over Baruch

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team defeated Baruch, 14-8, in a non-conference game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams finish the regular season with a 25-9 overall record, while the Bearcats fell to 18-17.

Tied 2-2 after four innings, Farmingdale State led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple to left center by sophomore centerfielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.). Freshman second baseman Thomas Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) singled to right, scoring Bergmann and putting the Rams ahead 3-2. After an Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) single through the left side, an RBI single by junior right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State a 4-2 lead. Alvino later scored on a double play before the Rams added a sixth run on a Ryan McAllister (Miller Place, N.Y.) single through the right side.

Baruch scored four runs in the top of the sixth, highlighted by a 3-run home run to center by freshman first baseman Eric Ulino (Long Island City, N.Y.) to quickly tie the game at 6-6.

Farmingdale State broke the tie and took a 7-6 lead with an Alvino RBI single to left in the bottom of the sixth. The Rams added five more runs in the inning to open up a 12-6 advantage.

Farmingdale State increased the lead to 14-6, before allowing two runs in the ninth en route to a 14-8 non-conference victory.

Bohonan was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored, while Bergmann was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. McAllister was 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and recording 2 RBI and Rydzewski had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Junior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) batted 3-for-5 with 3 RBI for the Rams.

Baruch was led by Ulino who was 3-for-3, with a home run, 4 RBI and a run scored.

Farmingdale State will host the Skyline Conference Baseball Championship on April 27-29. The top-seeded Rams will play their first game against the winner of No. 4 Mount Saint Mary/No. 5 Mount Saint Vincent on Friday, April 27th at 4:00 p.m.
