GAME 1 – PACIFIC 7, LEWIS & CLARK 2
Lewis & Clark managed to take the lead in Saturday's contest before seeing action scuttled by rain. Pacific scored in the top of the first without the benefit of a hit when Michael Arakaki (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) led off with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly. The Pioneers parlayed a Pacific error into two runs in the home half of the frame. With Bradley Lezak and Matthew Cathcart scoring on groundouts.
Treadway did not allow another run once play resumed, and the Pacific offense came through with 10 hits against L&C starter Mike Hathaway. Trux French (Sr., Kennewick, Wash.) scored two in the fourth on his bases loaded single to center field. Pacific then added two more in the fifth on back-to-back RBI hits to center field, a double by Dan Jaffe (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and a single by Arakaki.
The Boxers tallied two more runs in the eighth. Nick Tasaka (Sr., Hawaii Kai, Hawaii) walked and Arakaki singled to open the inning. Donnie Bradley (So., Beaverton, Ore.) followed with a single, but a Pioneers' error allowed Tasaka to score. Arakaki later scored on a ground out by Charlie Gaff (Fr., Stockton, Calif.).
Treadway, meanwhile, did not allow a runner past first base after the first inning in finishing up his first win of the season. He allowed the two runs, one earned, on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Hathaway took the loss for Lewis & Clark (0-4), allowing seven runs on 10 hits with five walks and five strikeouts in eight innings. Jaffe lead the Boxers offensively by going 2 for 5 with two runs and a RBI.
GAME 2 – PACIFIC 5, LEWIS & CLARK 1
Delegato looked as masterful as he did in his first complete game win over George Fox last weekend. The senior allowed one run on eight hits and had eight strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The bats provided support from the start as the Boxers scored single runs in the first and second. Gaff opened scoring in the first when he doubled to center field with one out and scored on Olis' single to center field. Tasaka was hit by a pitch with two outs in the second and came around to score on a single to right by Anson Arakaki (Sr., Hilo, Hawaii).
The Pioneers tallied their lone run in a three-hit sixth inning. Lezak led off the frame with a single and scored on a single through the left side by Mike Kinkenon.
In the seventh, Michael Arakaki led off with a double to right center and Gaff added a bunt single to allow Olis to score three insurance runs with his second home run of the season. Olis led the Boxers offensively in the nightcap by going 3 for 5 with four RBIs and a run.
Blake Howell took the loss for Lewis & Clark (0-3), allowing the five runs on 12 hits with a walk and a strikeout in six innings. Eric Hyun led the Pioneers offensive by going 3 for 4.
Pacific will take a two-week break from conference competition and will put their four-game win streak to the test against quality non-conference competition. Pacific will host Corban on Wednesday at 6 p.m., before traveling to southern California for a three-game series with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday and Sunday.
