WASHINGTON – CUA picked up its first Landmark Conference victory of the season on Sunday, downing Moravian 5-4 in game two of a doubleheader. The Greyhounds won the first game, earning a 5-3 victory in extra innings. Following today's action, CUA sits at 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference.

In the day's first game, Moravian jumped on top 1-0 with a single run in the 4th, but CUA came right back with two runs in its half of the frame.

Marc Hanna drew a one-out walk to get things started, and Nick Clary and Mark Kalokitis followed with singles to load the bases.

With two outs, Brendan Breslin delivered a run-scoring single to tie the score at one, and Clary came across on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

The lead was short lived however, as Moravian scored once in the 5th to knot the score at two. Charles Savite drove in the run with a RBI single to left field.

Both teams scored once in the 6th to keep the score tied. Moravian's came across on Daniel Seitzinger's single, while Kalokitis' ground out plated Hanna to make it 3-3.

After neither team scored in the 7th, the game headed to extra innings, where the Greyhounds pushed two runs across in the 8th.

CUA then went down in order in its half of the 8th, sending Moravian to a game one win.

Anthony Zaloga earned the win on the mound for the Greyhounds after he threw eight innings and struck out four. Kory Smigocki was dealt the loss for CUA, after he allowed two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.

In the nightcap, Moravian again scored in its half of the 1st to take an early lead, but CUA countered with a run in the bottom half to tie things up.

The Greyhounds scored another run in the 2nd, only to see the Cards come right back with two more runs to go in front 3-2. Charlie Dillon's single brought home one run, and Clary gave CUA the lead with a run-scoring single of his own.

The lead reached 4-2 in the 3rd when a Moravian error allowed Chris McCloud to come across.

McCloud then drove in another run with a sac fly in the 4th, as CUA opened up a three-run advantage.

Moravian refused to go quietly, bringing across two runs in the 5th to make it 5-4.

Chris Nee came on in the 7th for the Cardinals and had to work to earn the save. With two outs and a runner on first, a wild pitch allowed Matt Hanson to move into scoring position. A walk and hit batter then loaded the bases with two outs, but Nee got pinch hitter Joey DiSarno to ground out, ending the game.

Kevin Farley was the game-two winner for CUA, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing one earned run, while striking out four. Jonah Jimenez, Sean Van Gieson and Josh Martin worked in relief, before giving way to Nee for the save.

Thomas Mariano was dealt the loss for the visitors, after he allowed three earned runs on seven hits in three innings.

CUA is back in action on Tuesday afternoon when the Cardinals welcome Frostburg State to town. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
