The Dominican University baseball team slugged their way to a 16-6, eight-inning victory in game one over the Millikin University Big Blue but the Stars' bats went cold in game two, managing just five hits in a 5-2 loss for the Stars.

Freshman Quinlan Milne Rojek (Minneapolis, Minn.) had a historic day for the Stars in game one, becoming the first player in program history to hit for the cycle as he went a perfect 6-for-6 with three singles, a double, a triple and a home run.  After singling in his first three at-bats, Milne Rojek blasted a solo home run to right with one out in the top of the sixth.  The Stars' rookie then doubled to center to lead off the top of the eighth.  After the Stars batted around in the inning, Milne Rojek tripled to right-center with two runners on base.  Milne Rojek finished the game with five runs batted in and scored three times.

In total, seven players logged a hit in the Stars' lineup with five players collecting multiple hits. Kevin Schwer (Evergreen Park, Ill.), Joe Krasny (Berwyn, Ill,), Tim Varallo (Chicago, Ill.) and Richie Green (Chicago, Ill.) all had three hits. Schwer drove in three, going 3-for-4 with a double.

The Stars outhit the Big Blue 20-10 in support of starting pitcher Mitch McCaffery (Johnson Creek, Wis.) who improved to 2-1 on the season while tossing his third complete game of the season in his fourth start.  McCaffery surrendered six runs, five earned, on ten hits and three walks while striking out two.

Game two was a completely different ballgame as this time the Big Blue doubled up the Stars in hits, 10-5.

The Stars were able to get a runner through in the eighth inning on a balk.  In the ninth, Milne Rojek helped drive in an unearned run.  However, the Stars were unable to capitalize on a pair of Millikin errors.

Cody Mueller (Addison, Ill.) was the game two starter and was tagged with the loss for the Stars.  Mueller gave up eight hits, four runs, one walk, and punched out four.  Chance Emlund (Evergreen Park, Ill.) came into relief in the seventh.  Emlund managed to only surrender one run and two hits in his two innings of work.

The winning pitcher for Millikin was Even West who pitched a complete game.  West only gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits and had 11 strikeouts.

The Stars' record moves to 4-9 with this weekend's split.  The Stars will have two days to recuperate before returning to action on the Northside.  The Stars will be traveling to North Park on Tuesday for a mid-week, non-conference game on the turf before Northern Athletics Conference play commences.  Live Statistics will be available for the game.  Check out the baseball page for the appropriate links for the North Park matchup.
