Tavarez Goes 2-for-4 in Beavers Loss

NEW YORK – Kennedy Tavarez went 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot and Eric Quatrone legged out a triple but the City College of New York (3-12) fell to the Bears of St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn (11-1), 11-2, on Friday morning at Randall's Island Field 53.

Rosario DiLorenzo was dominant on the mound for the Bears, allowing just one hit while striking out four to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Andrew Mulvey (1-4) was tagged with the loss after the senior right-hander allowed six runs – four earned – in 6.0 innings. Tavarez threw a perfect 0.2 innings in the ninth in his first appearance on the hill this season.

St. Joe's scored two runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings and three in the seventh to take a 9-0 lead as errors allowed the Bears to tack on some insurance runs.

City College put its first run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh after Tavarez singled and came around to score on Quatrone's second triple of the season.

The Beavers added two more runs in the final inning with the Beavers plating one in the bottom frame as the Bears came away with an 11-2 victory.

CCNY is currently in a doubleheader against City University of New York Athletic Conference rival Baruch College at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York.
