Riley Spetz singled in the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 1-0 victory for UW-Stevens Point over Case Western Reserve on Saturday at the NCAA Division Midwest III Regional in Whitewater at James B. Miller Stadium at Prucha Field. Stevens Point, 39-9, advances to the World Series in Appleton, Wis., beginning on Friday, May 24. Case concludes its season with a 29-14 record.

Jimmy Coady led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Casey Barnes. Riley Spetz brought him around to score on a single.

Max Frederick, the Pointer starter, threw a gem going seven and two-thirds and scattering five hits while striking out three. Case advanced a runner to third on a single, a wild pitch and an error but Tyler Flood came on in relief to get the last out of the eighth and was perfect in the ninth as well to earn the save, his third of the year.

The teams combined for 11 hits and four players had two each. Jimmy Coady, the regional's most outstanding player, was 2-for-3 and Schilter was 2-for-4 for the Pointers.  Paul Pakan and Robert Winemiller were the two Spartans to collect two hits each.
