LOS ANGELES — Oxy freshman Devon DeRaad went 3 for 7 with a double and two RBIs, but the Tigers dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader with Chapman at Anderson Field on Saturday.
The Panthers win the series 2-1.
Oxy falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in SCIAC play.
The Tigers return to action on Feb. 21, hosting George Fox.
Game 1: Chapman 7, Occidental 2
The Panthers used a four-run rally in the fifth and a three-run rally again in the seventh to beat the Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader at Anderson Field on Saturday.
DeRaad went 2 for 4 with an RBI-double that scored Scott Ericksen in the bottom of the sixth for Oxy. The freshman designated hitter also scored Oxy's first run the inning before, advancing home from third on a walk by Chris Caldwell.
Tyler Cook, Tim Alanti and Brandon Demerest were responsible for most of the damage for Chapman. Cook went 3 for 5 with an-RBI single in the fifth and a double and a run scored in the seventh, Alanti was 1 for 3 with a home run and two runs scored, and Brandon Demerest was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI-single.
Walker Marks went 2 for 3 for the Tigers.
Braden Riddle earned the victory for Chapman, throwing 5.2 innings with eight strikeouts.
Game 2: Chapman 4, Occidental 1
The Tigers couldn't get much going offensively in Game 2 as the Chapman arms pitched well from the mound.
DeRaad drove in Oxy's only run with an RBI-single in the sixth inning.
A.J. Libunao went 2 for 3 for the Tigers.
Matt Smith earned the win, striking out seven in 5.2 innings.
The game was called after the eighth inning due to darkness.
