Redlands, Calif. (3/12/14) – Junior Mike Daley tossed eight innings of one run ball as the Kean University baseball team reached the double-digit win plateau with a 9-1 win over the University of Redlands.

The Cougars improve to 10-2 this season with one game remaining on their California swing.

The Kean bats were hot right from the get-go as the Cougars plated a single run in the first and four more in the second to take a quick 5-0 lead.  In the second, sophomore Ryan Reitmeyer drove in the game's second run with a bases-loaded single.  Junior James Lyczkowski then dunked a ball into rightfield that made it 3-0 and sophomore Matt Meleo followed with an RBI single up the middle.  Sophomore Ryan Kelley rounded out the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

The Cougars put the game out of reach with a three spot in the top of the sixth.  Lyczkowski tallied his second RBI of the day with a bunt while Meleo tripled later in the inning for an RBI.

Daley (2-0) allowed just six hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Offensively Meleo was 2-for-4 with two RBI while sophomore Sal Taormina collected two hits and two runs scored.

Kean closes out their spring break trip on Thursday at Whittier College with a 3 p.m. local start.
