ASHLAND, Va. – An eighth inning charge was enough for the Randolph-Macon baseball team to nab the 4-3 ODAC win over Hampden-Sydney this afternoon on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Tigers (21-9, 5-6 ODAC) jumped on the board in the first with a homerun to left but the Yellow Jackets (13-9, 8-3 ODAC) would respond with one run on two hits to knot the contest 1-1. Trailing 2-1 in the fourth, Sid Harvey (Ashburn, VA / Stone Bridge) (2-for-3) posted a two-out double to deep center field, driving in two runs to capture the 3-2 lead.

H-SC tied the game for the second time in the eighth before Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) (2-for-3) recorded the sacrifice-fly that brought home Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, MD / St. John's Prep) and the 4-3 edge. Meiners reached with a leadoff single through the right side.

Glen McLaughlin (Richmond, VA / Douglas Freeman) would come in to notch his fourth save with two K's as Jake Bram (Pasadena, MD / Chesapeake) (2-0) would take home the victory. Starting pitcher Jamie Hendrick (Chesterfield, VA / L.C. Bird) (4-1) finished a seven inning outing with five strikeouts and one walk.

The Randolph-Macon baseball team travels to Lynchburg this Saturday April 5, for a 12:00 PM ODAC doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets return to Ashland Sunday April 6, as they host Roanoke for a two game set beginning at 1:00 PM.
