Baruch Falls Short Against SUNY-Maritime (4-3)

The Baruch College Bearcats dropped a 4-3 contest to SUNY-Maritime on Wednesday, April 16 at the SUNY-Maritime Baseball Field in Whitestone, New York.

The Bearcats (9-15) scored first in the fifth inning on an RBI single by
Philip Lopreteto plate Matthew Ballone.

The Privateers, the road team on their home field, came back with three runs in the sixth inning, but the Bearcats quickly cut the score to 3-2 during their next at-bat with an RBI ground out by
Eric Ulinoto bring home Keith Ezersky.

The Privateers (13-15) added an insurance run in the ninth and that forced the Bearcats in their final at-bat to tie or win the game.

They did manage to start a rally and scored one run on
Angel Tejeda's RBI single to plate Loprete, but could not push through a second run to suffer the 4-3 loss.

James Very pitched a complete game versus the Bearcats with a line of nine innings, three earned runs, four walks and four strikeouts.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, April 19, with a CUNYAC home doubleheader against Lehman College. First pitch at MCU Park in Coney Island is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
