Whittier, Calif. (3/13/15) – Junior Ryan Reitmeyer blasted the first Kean homerun of the season as the Cougars blanked Whittier College, 7-0, in game one of the west coast swing.
Reitmeyer fell a triple short of the cycle after powering to a 3-for-4 day with three runs scored. Rookie Matt Krupa also recorded a 3-for-4 day with three RBI, two runs scored and a triple.
The Cougars (7-1) scratched across the only run they would need in the second as senior Tom McGuckin led off the frame with a triple. A groundout from Krupa drove in McGuckin for the game's first run.
#6/15 Kean put a three spot in the fourth to widen the advantage as Krupa and junior Ryan Kelley each tallied RBI singles. Reitmeyer then launched a solo blast in the sixth before the Cougars closed out the scoring in the eighth with an RBI triple from Krupa and an RBI single from Michael Kendall.
Southpaw Mike Occhi (2-0) earned the win in relief. Occhi tossed four and two thirds innings allowing just a walk.
Kean returns to action on Saturday when they face Whittier College again, this time at 1 p.m. local time.
