AUBURNDALE, FL - The Husson University baseball team fell to New Jersey City by the score of 12-5 on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 1-5 while NJC goes to 3-3.
The Eagles fell behind 3-1, but came to life in the fourth inning. Julien Boone (Washington, DC) got things going when he walked to start the inning, and then stole second. He advanced to third when Christian Corneil (Bangor, ME) singled up the middle. Corneil then stole second, and Adam Wilson singled to score Boone.
Two batters later, Ryan Rebar (Harmony, ME) singled to score Corneil and Wilson advanced to second. Andrew Curran (Hampstead, NH) then singled to load the bases, and Brandon Gendreau (Brewer, ME) singled to score Wilson.
The Eagles were looking for more with the bases loaded, but a double-play ended the threat.
NJC came back and scored three runs in the top of the fifth and six in the eighth to push the game out of reach of Husson.
Curran went 3-5 on the day two stolen bases while Wilson, Corneil, Bishop, Gendreau and Rebar each had a pair of hits.
Zak Kochis (Old Town, ME) took the loss for Husson, as he pitched 4.1 innings and gave up three earned runs.
Alex Weinstein went 2-4 with two RBIs for New Jersey City.
Husson continues play tomorrow against Wheaton.
