CAMDEN, N.J. (May 4, 2015) – Junior Tyler Bush had two RBIs, but the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team fell to Rutgers University-Camden 6-5 on Monday evening.

Camden, who fell to Kean in the NJAC Championship yesterday, pounced on the Ducks starting in the bottom of the first. After the first two runners reached base on a single and a walk, Joe Brooks came up and delivered an RBI single to center field, and two batters later Adam Bartholomew delivered a run-scoring groundout. The Scarlet Raptors (25-16) tacked on an unearned run in the bottom of the third, as Jon Theckston reached on an error and moved to third on a single by Brooks. He would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Bobby Romano.

Stevens took the lead in the top of the fourth, using singles from freshman Tommy Baronner and junior Jayson Yano coupled with a walk to sophomore Zeph Walters. Junior Nick Sieber came up and singled Baronner in, and with two outs Bush delivered a two run single to right center. Bush then attempted to steal second and was trapped in a rundown long enough for senior Gregg Nickels to score before Bush was tagged out.

Camden retook the lead back in the bottom of the sixth when Zach Ellin delivered an RBI single, and ended up coming around to score on a throwing error which also scored another runner as well.

The Ducks made it interesting in the top of the ninth. Walters led off with a walk and moved to second on a single by Sieber. Nickels came up and knocked in pinch runner Harrison Kaye and after a groundout runners were on second and third with two outs. However, Kyle Gaff got a fielder's choice to end the threat and seal the victory for the home team.

Sieber had two hits while Walters drew two walks. Sophomore Bret Viola entered in the top of the seventh and tossed two shutout innings of relief while striking out five.

Brooks and Tenuto had three hits for the Scarlet Raptors while Andrew Gottstein threw four innings of hitless relief to earn the win allowing just one run.

The Ducks ended the regular season 27-13, and will meet Houghton on Thursday in the first game of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament hosted by Utica at 3 p.m.
