Bison dropped by Keystone, 19-3

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Nichols College baseball team fell 19-3 to Keystone in non-conference action Thursday afternoon in the Snowbird Classic at North Charlotte County Regional Park.

Sophomore Spencer Madden (Nashua, N.H.) and junior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) each went 2-for-4 while sophomore Ross Caswell (Randolph, Vt.) had a pair of RBI to lead the Bison.

Nichols (4-5) fell behind 18-0 over the first five frames before finally scratching a run across in the sixth off an RBI-single from junior Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) that drove in sophomore Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.). The Bison added two more runs in the eighth inning off of a sac-fly from Caswell.

The Bison were outhit in the game 24-10 as senior Nate Ross (Albuquerque, N.M.) paced the Giants by going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Junior Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa.) finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI – including a two-run homerun in the first inning.

The Bison are back in action against Keystone again on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
