Iseneker's No-Hitter Highlights Saturday's Two Wins

More news about: St. John Fisher

Baseball's Marc Iseneker became the first pitcher at St. John Fisher College to throw a no hitter since 2011, as the Cardinals downed host Elmira College 9-0 on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader.  The junior struck out 11 batters in the win and allowed just one batter to reach base – a lead-off walk in the second inning that was quickly erased by a double play.

Isenker is the first player to throw a no-hitter at Fisher since All-American Justin D'Amato, who tossed in no-hitter in an 11-0 win over Utica College in 2011.

In the first game, pitcher Terry Engels wasn't perfect, but he wasn't that far off, tossing 6.1 inning, while allowing just four hits and one unearned run in a 4-1 win over the Soaring Eagles.  Sophomore pitcher
Loukas Brigham recorded the final two outs to earn his second save in as many days.

Fisher will host University of Rochester for a single game on Wednesday.

Game One: Fisher 4, Elmira 1 (seven innings)

Pitcher Terry Engels gave up one unearned run in the second inning, but was  nearly perfect after that, allowing just four hits over 6.1 innings with five strikeouts, recording his first win of the year.
Fisher got on the board in the third inning with Joe Simmons starting the frame with a double and scoring three batters later.

Fisher's other three runs came in the fourth.  Singles from Nate Roethel and Malcolm Kelsey sparked the spurt, while Evan Ryan's two-run double to right-center highlighted the inning.
Mike Roman finished with two hits in the win.

Game Two: Fisher 9, Elmira 0 (nine innings)

Marc Iseneker upped his record to 2-1 on the year, recording a season-high 11 strikeouts, while recording the program's third no-hitter this millennium.
Fisher took command early, scoring three runs in the first, one in the second and three more in the third.
Frank Carnevale and Joe Simmons each finished with three hits.  Carnevale doubled twice, as did Cody Wiktorski.   Evan Ryan totaled two hits, while Jack Vivinetto doubled and scored a run.
