Keene, N.H. - Alan Schiff struck out eight in seven innings as the Keene State College Owls baseball team rallied for a 6-4 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in baseball action this afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex.  Trinity drops to 5-9 entering its New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division-opening, three-game series against Bowdoin this weekend, and the Owls improve to 8-7.  

Trinity got two hits from apiece from senior Mackenzie Genauer (Montclair, N.J.) and junior Nick Pezzella (Worcester, Mass.), while  sophomore LHP McLane Hill(Marlborough, Conn.) was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) in 1.2 innings.  Dustin Howe led the Keene State attack, batting 3-for-3 with a walk.  Schiff picked up the win, allowing three earned runs and walking just one.  Keith Simpson earned his first career save, striking out three in two innings of relief.

Keene State broke through with two runs in the second inning, but the Bantams hit back with three runs in the top of the third.  Trinity first-year Johnny Stamatis(Ridgefield, Conn.) had an RBI single in the frame, and sophomore Brandon Pierce (Hingham, Mass.) had a sacrifice fly. Trinity senior Rick Spencer (Madison, Conn.) also had an RBI hit in the inning to put the Bantams in front.  Schiff shut down the Bantams in the fourth and fifth, and the Owls rallied to tie the game in the sixth on an error, a groundout, and two wild pitches.  Trinity went back in front almost as quickly, as pinch hitter Cooper Mooney (Southbury, Conn.) drew a lead-off walk and came around on a wild pitch.  

The Owls went back in front in the bottom of the seventh.  Vinny Parilla and Dustin Howe had consecutive singles, and Kolby Reggione reached on an error with two out to keep the inning alive.  A hit-by-pitch scored Parilla to tie the game, and Billy Hartmann slammed an RBI double to center to plate two more runs.  Simpson shut the door on the Bantams in the ninth.
