The Story: Johns Hopkins swept a doubleheader against Franklin & Marshall Sunday in a rematch of the 2015 Centennial Conference Championship, which the Blue Jays also won. Just like last year's conference title game, the Hopkins offense was the story as they won Sunday's games by scores of 17-5 and 11-1. The Jays hit five home runs on the day and mashed 29 hits. Mitch Weaver and Raul Shah led the way offensively as the pair of seniors combined for nine hits, three home runs and 10 RBIs. Sean McCracken came on in relief during game one to earn his first career win, while senior captain Carter Burnsallowed just one run in six innings to earn the game two win. Burns became the sixth Johns Hopkins pitcher to record his 200th strikeout when he struck out Reed Williams looking in the second inning.
The Hopkins defense also did not disappoint Sunday making just one error over the two games and making countless plays to help pitchers get out of jams. JHU turned five double plays in the two games, including a season high three in game two.Conor Reynolds also made a spectacular play running well into foul territory from his shortstop position and catching a fly ball on the run. The junior then fired a rocket home to avoid a runner from third tagging up on the play.
A trio of freshmen pitchers also deserve credit for leading the Blue Jays to the sweep. McCracken, Wyatt Lam and Preston Betz combined to throw 11 innings on the day, 10 of which were scoreless.

The Facts:
- Mike Smith finished the day 2-for-5, but also reached base four times via a hit by pitch. The sophomore has now been hit 11 times this season. He came into Sunday's doubleheader with 15 runs on the season and added seven more against F&M.
- Weaver hit two home runs in game one, marking the first time a Blue Jay has accomplished the feat since Craig Hoelzerdid it last May vs. Salisbury.
- Weaver's six home runs this season are tops in the Centennial Conference.
- The 17 runs scored by the Blue Jays in game one were their most in a conference game in almost exactly a year. Hopkins also scored 17 against Swarthmore on April 11, 2015.
- Fourteen different Johns Hopkins hitters recorded at least one hit Sunday, including Tim Kutcher and Gabe Maymon who both recorded their first career hits.
- Shah is now just three hits away from 100 in his career. The senior also has 30 RBIs, the fourth most in the conference.
- The Blue Jays lead the Centennial in home runs with 23, seven more than an Washington, which ranks second in the category.
- Hopkins' four-game winning streak is its second longest this season.
- Betz's save was his second of the season, tying him for the most on the squad.
Weaver's Take: "It was great to get two wins against a good team like F&M. Some guys really stepped up today and while I'm proud of the offense, the pitchers also did a great job. A bunch of guys came up big today, especially our freshmen pitchers in a big spot.
