ROCHESTER, N.Y. – For the first time since mid-April of 2012, the Ithaca College baseball team scored double-digit runs in three straight games. Ithaca took down the University of Rochester, 12-5, on Tuesday evening at Towers Field to extend the Bombers' winning streak to six in a row. The Bombers are now 13-9 on the season, while Rochester drops to 10-9.

Ithaca's 2012 squad produced run totals of 13, 16 and 10 from April 4-7 and then 12, 12 and 14 on the 14th and 15th.

The Bombers started right where they left off from their three-game sweep of SUNY Canton with five runs in the top of the first inning on Tuesday.

Ithaca's first run came on an error off the bat of freshman Sam Little that allowed junior Brennan McCormack to score from third base. Junior Ryan Henchey then singled to drive in classmate Trevor Thompson, who reached on a double. Senior John Stanley stroked a triple to bring in S. Little and Henchey, and freshman Andrew Bailey wrapped up the rally with an RBI groundout that pushed Stanley home.

After batting around in the first, the Bombers tacked on one more run in the next inning as McCormack scored on a single from Thompson. McCormack reached on an error and stole second to move into scoring position.

Another run came home for the Bombers in the third on a single through the right side from freshman Webb Little with classmate Matt Carey on second.

Rochester got on the board with a two-run base hit in the bottom of the fourth, but W. Little singled again in the fifth to score Bailey from second.

The Bombers re-established their seven-run lead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from S. Little. McCormack notched his third run of the game on the play.

In the seventh, junior Josh Savacool picked up an RBI with a groundout to second base, which allowed Carey to score from third. Another error by the Rochester defense let Bailey come home and then Thompson drilled a triple to centerfield to send McCormack across the plate.

The Yellowjackets scored three more times in the eighth to account for the event final score of 12-5.

Thompson went 4-for-5 with a double, triple, two RBI and a run scored. McCormack scored four runs and stole two bases in a 1-for-5 evening.

W. Little recorded three hits in four at bats with two RBI, while S. Little and Stanley drove in two runs.

Senior John Prendergast earned his first victory since April 27, 2014, tossing five innings. Prendergast surrendered two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. He induced eight groundball outs in the outing.

Junior Logan Barer threw the final four innings of the game to pick up his first save of the season. Barer struck out eight Yellowjackets  and gave up five hits with four walks.

Ithaca will be back in action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against No. 3 SUNY Cortland at Freeman Field.
