Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team struggled to stop the #4 team in the country as the Cru fell to Trinity University 10-5 in a weather-shortened non-conference game Tuesday night in San Antonio. The loss drops UMHB to 11-21 on the season. The Tigers improve to 29-7 on the year with the victory.

Trinity jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Cody Stone launched a solo home run over the left field wall in the top of the second for UMHB to cut the lead to 3-1. Jeremy Wolf's two-run double highlighted a three-run bottom of the second for the Tigers to push it to 6-1 and Trinity added another run in the bottom of the third for a 7-1 advantage. The Cru responded with a four-run fifth inning. Will Stafford singled home the first run and scored on a Tiger error and Chase Burrow added a two-run single to pull UMHB to within 7-5. Trinity would tack on three more runs in the bottom of that frame to grab a 10-5 edge. The Cru did not threaten in the sixth or seventh and the game was called after the top of the seventh as lightning moved into the area.

Tyler Nelson took the loss on the mound for UMHB to fall to 0-3 on the year. Five different players had hits for the Cru as Burrow drove in two runs and Stone hit his third homer of the season. Michael Walker went the distance for Trinity to raise his record to 6-0 on the year. Wolf and Andrew Waters had two hits apiece and Wolf drove in three runs for the Tigers.

UMHB will now have the weekend off. The Cru will return to action with a 7:00 PM non-conference game against Texas Lutheran University at Red Murff Field on Tuesday, April 19th.
