OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The No. 6/8 Oswego State baseball team defeated the Brockport Golden Eagles in both ends of a conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon to extend its win streak to 15 games. The Lakers improved to 23-3 on the year and 10-2 in the SUNYAC. The Golden Eagles fell to 16-13 (7-5 in the SUNYAC.)

Game One: Oswego 5, Brockport 2 (7 innings)

In this contest, the pitchers were the main showcase until late as each kept the other team off the board through five innings.

After going down without a through the majority of the game, the Laker bats came alive in the sixth. Eric Hamilton got the scoring started in a big way as he smacked a towering home run to left driving in Brian Hamilton who singled in the prior at bat.

Following a single and an error where Myles Kutscher and Jordan Giller reached base, John Barnes beat out a dribbler to short to score Kutscher. Later in the inning with Giller and Barnes on base, Zach Kollar slapped a ball over the outfielder's head to bring both runners in as he got to third for a triple.

Robert Donnelly threw six complete frames to earn his fifth win of the season. The sophomore allowed just two earned during his time on the hill while he struck out five.

Mickey Putillo entered the game in relief in the seventh inning and allowed just one hit before closing the door on the Golden Eagles threat.

Game Two: Oswego 14, Brockport 4

As the story of the Lakers baseball season has gone thus far, Eric Hamilton once again provided a spark on the offense at a needed time. After Brockport mustered a run in the top of the first, the junior came to the plate and in similar fashion to his first bomb smacked another two-run homer to left.

E. Hamilton's dinger was his eleventh of the season, tying the program record originally set by Derek Myers in 1998.

Oswego strung together seven hits and eight runs over the next three innings to effectively put the contest out of reach. The Lakers then added four runs in insurance in the seventh and eighth innings.

Wes Randall (2), E. Hamilton (3), John Barnes (2) and Mike Dellicarri (3) each recorded multiple hits on the afternoon as Oswego tallied 16 total base knocks. The four players contributed nine RBI as well.

Zach Whelan knocked a RBI-double in a pinch hit appearance. Robert Donnelly, Brian Hamilton and Myles Kutscher also drove in a run.

Tim Cronin tossed six innings off the bump and allowed just one earned run as he notched his fifth win on the season. Cody Laflamme and Patrick Gosney combined for the final three innings and allowed a combined three hits and no runs.
