GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team cruised to a 15-5 victory on the road over the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest to clinch the three-game series sweep on Wednesday.

Every Thiel starter recorded a hit in the victory and Thiel scored in every inning except the first and sixth innings.

After Geneva struck first in the bottom of the first inning, Thiel responded with three runs in the top of the second. Two of the runs came on a home run to right field by Trent Mosley. Later in the inning, Dan Koller brought Matt Elko around to score on a RBI single to right field.

Thiel added a run in the third and fourth innings. Koller drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the third that allowed Mosley to come home from third base. In the fourth, Josh Doody singled through the left side that scored Bryan Mitchell from second base.

Geneva cut into the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth but Thiel got those runs back in the top of the fifth. Elko scored on a RBI groundout by Mitchell to the third baseman. Nick Fowkes followed with a single to left field to plate Trent Smith.

Thiel pushed across three more runs in the top of the seventh. Mitchell doubled down the right field line with one out to score Koller from second. A batter later, Fowkes hammered a single to right center field that brought home Smith and Mitchell.

Thiel plated four more runs in the eighth. Koller drove in Mosley on a single to left field. Smith followed with a double to right field that allowed Shiloh Turner to score. Mitchell then singled to left field to score Koller. Jake Marino knocked home the fourth run of the eighth inning when Smith crossed the plate on a groundout to third base.

Koller added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning when he hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought home Nick Grice from third base.

Tanner Teconchuk and Nick Bucci stifled a late Geneva rally in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Kevin Forrester picked up his seventh win of the season pitching six quality innings. Forrester struck out three batters and only allowed one earned run. Jaden Nozicka worked two innings of relief without allowing a run.

Elko and Smith both notched four hits in the victory while Smith scored three times. Koller drove in four runs and Mitchell went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Thiel (24-10, 13-5 PAC) will begin a three-game weekend PAC series at home on Friday, April 30 with the Grove City Wolverines. First pitch from Tomcat Park will be at 4 p.m.
