La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team remained undefeated at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Thursday afternoon with a 10-0 victory over Saint John's University (Minn.) at Copeland Park.  The Eagles, ranked fourth on the D3baseball.com Top-25 poll, improve to 36-8 on the season and will play Friday, May 20 at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of the Concordia University Chicago (Ill.)/Luther College (Iowa) game scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday.  Saint John's (Minn.) falls to 29-13 and will play in an elimination game Friday at 10 a.m. against North Central College (Ill.).

UWL played as the away team Thursday, and got off to a fast start in the top of the first.  Alex Cordova singled with one out, and moved to second on a balk.  Taylor Kohlwey doubled to right center, scoring Cordova to make it 1-0.  Justin Anderson singled to drive in Kohlwey for a 2-0 advantage.

Kohlwey, who leads the nation in batting average (now at .494), extended his hitting streak to 47 games, the second-longest in NCAA Division III history.  The 47-game hitting streak would also be third in NCAA Division I or II history.

UWL added to the lead in the second inning Thursday, scoring three runs on three hits.  Anderson recorded his second RBI of the game on a two-out single with Joel Zyhowski scoring on the play to make it 3-0.  After Anderson stole second, Carter Hoffman singled to drive in Kohlwey and Anderson to put the Eagles up 5-0.

UWL added another run in the fifth as Travis Buxton-Verstegen scored on a fielder's choice to make it 6-0.  Buxton-Verstegan had singled to lead-off the frame.  After Kohlwey walked in the sixth, Anderson hit a two-run home run to give the Eagles a 8-0 advantage.

Nate Heili was hit-by-pitch to lead off the seven, and stole second with one out.  Cordova singled to left center, driving in Heili to push the lead to 9-0.  Cordova moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an Anderson single to left field to make it 10-0.

Troy Kenkel (8-2) earned the win for UWL.  He didn't allow a run on four hits in 7.0 innings.  He struck out eight without recording a walk.  It was his fourth start of the season without allowing an earned run, and he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 12 starts this year.

Anderson led the Eagles going 4-for-6 at the plate, including his team-leading 11th home run of the year.  The 11 home runs is tied for second in single-season school history, joining Chester Jankes (2002). Vinnie Rottino finished with a school record 15 home runs in 2002.  Anderson drove in five runs Thursday, increasing his single-season school record to 77.  Kohlwey was 2-for-5 with a double, one RBI and three runs.  Cordova had two hits and an RBI while Buxton-Verstegan and Heili added two hits each for UWL.  Hoffman added two RBI.
