The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Beavers from CCNY, 6-4, in a single game contest played on Friday afternoon at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York (Long Island).

The host Beavers scored first in their opening at-bat, but the Bearcats took control with two runs in the second inning, one in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to build a comfortable 5-1 advantage.


Dan Daley tied the game in the second inning with an RBI single to plate Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. and followed up with another RBI single in the sixth inning to bring in Mendoza, Jr. again. Sean McNamara recorded an RBI single in the sixth for the team's fifth run.

The Beavers scored twice in their bottom sixth to get as close as 5-3, but
Edwin St. Hilaire smacked an RBI double to score Michael McGroarty for an insurance run late in the game at 6-3.

The Beavers threatened with another run in their final at-bat, but St. Hilaire pulled in relief duty in the ninth to clinch the win and save.


Paul Sirakowski gets the victory on the mound with a solid line of 8 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB and a career-high nine strikeouts.

Daley finished with three runs scored and two RBI, while Mendoza, Jr. finished with two runs scored. Both players also had two stolen bases.

Anthony Cacc and Jonathan Abr had two hits apiece for the Beavers.
