Bison fall short to Clark (MA), 9-7

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Nichols College baseball team fell 9-7 to Clark University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at the Granger Diamond.
 
Senior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) finished with three hits and two RBI's and junior Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) added three hits with a run scored to lead the Bison.
 
The Cougars were paced by juniors Teddy Downing (Cambridge, Mass.) and Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) with a pair of hits and two runs scored apiece while freshman Nick Jordan (Seaford, N.Y.) finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
 
Junior Conor Walsh (Marstons Mills, Mass.) pitched well for Clark going six innings and allowing just three runs (all earned) on seven hits while striking out seven in the no decision. Sophomore Cal Slepkow (Rehobeth, Mass.) earned the win pitching 1.2 innings of relieve and allowing one unearned run on just two hits while striking out one.
 
The Bison trailed 6-1 through five innings but began to rally back – scoring five runs over the next three innings to tie it up at six. The Cougars took the lead right back in the bottom of the eighth with a two-RBI triple by senior Adam Chochrek (Foxboro, Mass.) which proved to be the game-winner.
 
All-Time Series
This marked the 44th all-time meeting between the Bison and the Cougars with Clark earning only its second win in the last five years. The Bison lead the all-time series at 30-12-2.
