BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Jack Halpin (Glastonbury, Conn.) and juniors Ryan Arena (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Mark Webber (Norwell, Mass.) all homered and combined to drive in 10 runs as Babson College defeated visiting Salem State, 12-5, in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Govoni Field.

Babson, which has won 10 straight games, improves to 23-13 overall, while Salem State drops to 21-18 after having its six-game winning streak snapped.

Webber went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, Arena was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored, and Halpin contributed three hits to go along with three RBI and two runs scored. Senior Jake Weiss (Irvine, Calif.) chipped in with two hits and an RBI, while sophomore Brian McHale (Ramsey, N.J.) reached base and scored twice for the Beavers.

Sophomore Joe White (Bellingham, Mass.) drilled a two-run homer and senior Joe Kasper (Lynn, Mass.) drove in a pair of runs to lead the Vikings.

After stranding three runners over the first two innings, the Green and White batted around in both the third and fourth innings while scoring 11 times to break the game open. Halpin followed a single by Weiss and a walk by McHale with a three-run blast, while Webber came through with a two-run double to left later in the third to make it 5-0.

McHale and Halpin led off the fourth with back-to-back singles and Arena followed with his 11th home run over the season to extend the Babson lead to 8-2. Webber crushed two-run homer to right center with one out, and junior David Lennon (Windermere, Fla.) walked and moved to second on a balk before racing home on Weiss' two-out RBI single to make it 11-2.

Salem State, which got on the board thanks to White's two-run shot in the top of the fourth, took advantage of a pair of errors to cut its deficit to 11-3 in the top of the fifth. The Beavers pushed their advantage back to nine in the bottom of the frame though, as Arena doubled to deep center and later scored on a sacrifice fly by first-year Sean Harrington (Walpole, Mass.).

Sophomore Edward Lehr (Byram Township, N.J.) started and allowed two runs and four hits over 3.1 innings, while first-year Michael Nocchi (Manasquan, N.J.) gave up one unearned run in 1.2 innings to pick up the win and move to 2-2 on the year.

Junior Ryan Kelleher (Hanover, Mass.) took the loss and dropped to 0-2 on the year after giving up hits to the two batters he faced in the third.

Babson returns to action on Saturday when it opens the best-of-three NEWMAC Tournament championship series at 12 p.m. against MIT at Govoni Field. Salem State will host a MASCAC Tournament game on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 3-7 all-time against Salem State and picked up their first win in the series since 1998 on Tuesday.
•    Babson's 10-game winning streak matches the 1997 squad for the third longest in program history. The Beavers' longest winning streak in school history is 12 games back in March 2010.
•    Arena extended his hitting streak to nine games and has reached base in 26 consecutive outings, while Halpin (12) and Webber (10) both stretched their hitting streaks to double digits.
•    With eight consecutive multi-hit games, Halpin is now third in program history with 190 knocks. His 117 runs batted in are also good for sixth in school history.
