ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) had three hits, including a home run, as the 16th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Rowan Sunday afternoon on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2) fell 6-2 in Game 1 and 9-2 in the nightcap to the Profs (3-0).

In the opener, R-MC started the scoring in the first. Sophomore Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) reached on a mishandled popup. He was sacrificed to second by junior Jeff Butler (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) and came home on a base hit by senior Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Duphorn drew a leadoff walk, stole second, went to third on a sacrifice by Butler and scored on a sacrifice fly by Migliorini as R-MC took a 2-0 advantage.

Rowan responded with one in the fourth, four in the seventh and one in the ninth for a 6-2 win.

Junior Nick Roth (Henrico, Va./Benedictine) allowed one unearned run in six innings with four hits, no walks and two strikeouts.

Duphorn scored twice, while Migliorini and Spiers both had two hits and one RBI.

In Game 2, the Profs took control in the top of the first with three runs and added one in the second, three in the fifth and two in the seventh. The umpires called the game after seven due to lack of light.

The two runs for the Yellow Jackets came on home runs. Senior Joseph Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va./Menchville) went deep in the second for the fourth time this season. Migliorini homered to right in the sixth for his first dinger of the season.

Butler went 2 for 3 with a double in the nightcap for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon begins ODAC play on Saturday, March 10, with a noon doubleheader at Emory & Henry.
