The temperatures did nothing to phase the bats for the Pacific University baseball team as they had three-different hits that brought in a pair of runs en route to a 9-2 win over Lewis & Clark on Sunday night.
 
Plus, the Boxers scored four times in the second and five more times in the sixth to give plenty of support for Pacific starter Sam Lawrence, who went seven innings, scattering seven hits and striking out eight for the win.
 
"It was a good weekend of baseball in a final tuneup before we start Northwest Conference games," said Pacific head coach Brian Billings as the Boxers won three games over conference foes on the weekend. "We had good pitching, solid defense, aggressive base running and timely hitting."  

Pacific (6-7) got on the scoreboard when Derek Legeza dropped a two-RBI double down the right-field line with the bases loaded, scoring a pair for the early 2-0 lead. The Boxers added another when Chase Anderson beat out an infield single that was misplayed by the Pioneers, scoring Dylan Morgan and Legeza.
 
Lewis & Clark (0-5) scored its only two runs in the fourth inning to cut the Boxers lead to 4-2. Then, Pacific sent nine batters to the plate on the Pioneers' bullpen in the sixth inning, scoring five runs on three hits. Two of the runs came in on a two-RBI double by Ryan Krout and two more came in on a Dustin Meyer double. Also, in the inning, Pacific got a run on a sacrifice fly by Anderson.  
 
Boxer relievers Derek Ridgeway and Liam Cammall each pitched an inning of scoreless relief, giving up a hit each to close out the victory.
 
Next, Pacific will begin Northwest Conference play with a three-game series against the Pioneers in Portland. The series will get underway with a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
