LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team scored six runs in the eighth, hitting a pair of homers, to better Wisconsin Lutheran and win a fifth straight.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine, playing as the visiting team since the game was moved from Wisconsin, had a golden opportunity right away but did not score
• The first two batters of the game reached, but a double play allowed Wisconsin Lutheran to escape
• Both starting pitchers settled in, allowing very little
• Stephen Sewruk retired 11 straight at one point for Benedictine
• Both teams scored in the sixth inning
• Kyle Mitter led off by drawing a walk and scored from first on a double down the left field line from Michael Chaffin
• A delayed double steal enabled Wisconsin Lutheran to tie the game in the bottom of the inning with the only run Sewruk surrendered
• Jimmy McLaughlin opened the top of the eighth with a single and following a pitching chance pinch-hitter Damen Castillo delivered a two-run homer deep to left, putting Benedictine ahead
• Nicholas Quick followed with a single and scored when Tyler Woynerowski deposited his second homer of the season over the wall in left, making the score 5-1
• Jack Feeley added a two-run triple in the inning and the pitching staff shut the door on a fifth straight win
STAT LEADERS
• Sewruk worked six innings and allowed just one run but did not factor in the decision, striking out six
• Ryan Litavecz threw the seventh to earn the win while Ty Liaromatis and Simon Herold finished out the win
• The pitching staff did not walk a batter while striking out eight
• Benedictine finished with 10 hits in the contest, three of which came from Mitter
NOTES
• Feeley extended his hitting streak to 13 games and his on-base streak to 14 with the eighth inning triple after going 0-for-4 to start the game
• Castillo hit the second pinch-hit homer of the year; Logan Shepard tied game one with Rockford on Saturday with a solo blast in the eighth
• Sewruk has issued just two walks while striking out 33 in 36 innings of work
• One of the top pitching staffs in the nation, the team's ERA dropped to 2.66 following the win
• The pitching staff has allowed three runs or less in 12 games this year
• The bullpen has now worked 12.2 innings without allowing a run
