Keystone Takes Two vs. Cairn to Secure CSAC Sweep

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College baseball team won both games against Cairn University in a CSAC doubleheader on Easter Monday, taking game one 8-5 before winning game two, 2-0.

With the sweep, the Giants are now 15-11 (8-1 CSAC) and will host Misericordia University on Wednesday, April 24 at 3:35 p.m. The game will be televised locally by Fox 56 Sports on MYTV-WQMY.

The Highlanders drop to 13-18 (5-4 CSAC).

Game One: Keystone 8, Cairn 5

Seniors Dakota McFadden and Johann Paniagua both homered and McFadden earned the win in game one.

McFadden earned his third win of the spring by going 5 2/3 innings, throwing 101 pitches while striking out seven. Senior Wandy Brito tossed 1/3 while junior Zabdiel Parilla earned his first win of the year, fanning two in the seventh.

At the plate, McFadden launched a 2-1 pitch over the left center wall to score senior Chris Panzarella and give the Giants a 2-0 lead in the first. Paniagua followed in the second with a solo blast down the left field line.

Senior Mohammed Hussein, junior Nick Carlini, senior Ronald Medina and junior Ryan Callahan all drove in one run each. Freshman Devin Reed went 2-for-3 while Panzarella scored twice.

Game Two: Keystone 2, Cairn 0

Sophomore Nathan Hinkley tossed the complete game shutout with eight strikeouts as the Giants completed the sweep.

The righty went the distance, allowing just six hits while walking one on 101 pitches.  Hinkley forced nine flyouts and four groundouts.

Keystone scored on an error in the first while sophomore RJ Gouldsbury provided an RBI groundout in the second.

Paniagua went 2-for-3 with a run while Hussein and junior Joe Fichera went 1-for-3. Hussein is now at 99 career hits.
