KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — For the third time in program history and first time since 2014, the Keuka College Baseball team has won the North Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship.

The Wolves clinched the league title with a 2-0 victory over Cazenovia College on Sunday at Kuhl Field.

Keuka College (25-14, 15-3 NEAC) was led on my mound by Wyatt Conklin (Bloomfield, N.Y. / Bloomfield). The junior pitched into the eighth inning, allowing just four hits and striking out eight batters without allowing a run.

The Wolves and Wildcats were scoreless through four innings on Sunday in a pitcher's duel. Both the starter for Cazenovia and Wyatt Conklin had four strikeouts through four innings without allowing a run.

It remained a 0-0 game until the bottom of the sixth as Nick Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) led off the inning with a single. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a groundout. That brought Dan Bamann (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit) to the plate and the senior delivered. Bamann doubled to the right centerfield gap to score Brown and give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

The Wolves added to their lead in the eighth as a wide pickoff throw at first base allowed Brooks Vertoske (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads) to score from third for the 2-0 advantage. That would me enough for the Keuka College pitching staff. Three relievers backed up the effort by Conklin with Tyler Key (Chico, Calif. / Gridley) earning his sixth save of the season as Keuka College defeated Cazenovia College 2-0.

• Keuka College previously won the regular season title in 2004 before the current version of the North Eastern Athletic Conference and in 2014 when they shared the title with Gallaudet
• The Wolves are now 24-36 all-time against Cazenovia, winning their eighth straight game against the Wildcats
• Anthony Mashewske (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) had a pair of hits to lead the Wolves offense. Mashewske stole a base as well
• The outing was a new career-high for Wyatt Conklin, surpassing a pair of seven-inning appearances during his career

Up Next for Keuka College: Despite the previous titles, Keuka College will host the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. The double-elimination championship will kick off from Kuhl Field on Friday with a pair of games.
