La PLUME, Pa. – Keystone baseball fended off the visiting Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill, 7-4, to sweep the season series Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Christy Mathewson Field.

Cobleskill got on the scoreboard first with a two-run homer by Samuel Gutierrez in the opening frame, but it wouldn't be enough to overcame the continued hot hitting from Keystone's Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale).

The graduate senior knotted the score up in the bottom half of the first inning with a two-RBI double before later giving the Giants the lead on a three-run home run in the third.

After the Fighting Tigers got a run back in the top of the fifth, Keystone responded with an RBI-double from Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) and a sacrifice fly by Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa) to plate a pair of runs.

Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) earned his second win of the season in his fifth start on the mound.

Keystone improved to 20-15 overall as SUNY Cobleskill fell to 20-16.

The Giants previously defeated the Fighting Tigers last week, 18-3, at SUNY Cobleskill's home field.

Fighting Tigers are coached by former Giants players Lance Ratchford '11 and Austin Straub '14. Both were members of the 2011 World Series team that was inducted into the Keystone College Athletics Hall of Fame earlier this school year.
