ANNVILLE, Pa. – Mike Bulgia knocked in the game-winning run with a single up the middle to record his 100th career hit and give the Lebanon Valley College baseball team a 2-1 victory over Widener on Sunday at McGill Field. The Dutchmen advanced to next weekend's Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championship series with a 2-0 series win in the semifinals against the Pride.

Widener (21-20) scored first with their only run of the game in the first inning. From there Tanner Rock and Zachary Coluccio had an exciting pitcher's duel with each throwing over 100 pitches. LVC (28-13) got on the board in the eighth scoring both of their runs to take the lead.

Inside the Box Score

  • Nico Santoro started things off in the bottom of the first inning with his 63rd hit of the season tying the program record held by Joe Zielke in 2002.
  • Ryan Murphy led off the eighth with a single to center. Pete Botbyl laid down a perfectly placed bunt down the third base line to put two on with no outs. Murphy advanced to third on a Santoro line drive to deep right.
  • Conor Smith tied the game with a ground out to second.
  • Bulgia singled up the middle on a 3-1 pitch scoring Botbyl with the go-ahead run.
  • Santoro, Smith, Bulgia, Jace Fetterman, Andrew Miles, Murphy, and Botbyl had a hit each.
  • Rock struck out three and gave up six hits in six innings of work.
  • Tommy Moore Jr. earned the win with three innings of one-hit relief. He struck out three batters and walked just two.

Who's Next
The top-seeded Dutchmen will host second-seeded York College of Pennsylvania in a rematch of last year's Championships series next weekend at McGill Field. Game one is scheduled for Friday afternoon with game two and the if-necessary game three on Saturday. York defeated Alvernia in three games in the other semifinal matchup.
