The Lynx continued their ambush of offense in today's matchup with the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. They got things going early, as Dante Messina scored in the first on a throwing error by the catcher, attempting to prevent a stolen base from Ben Burkhart. In the second, after falling behind 2-1, Malcolm Rohlfing plated two with a double down the third base line.
Freshman sidewinder William May inherited a bases-loaded, nobody-out situation in the third, and induced a double play and a strikeout on just seven pitches, stranding all three runners. May went on to pitch three more scoreless innings and take the win for the Lynx pitching staff.
The Lynx offensive barrage continued, as they put up 1 in the third from a Corbin Kinder RBI single and 5 in the fourth, led by a clutch three-run homer from Ben Wilson. The Lynx put up another in the fifth, but their biggest offensive inning was the 6th, as they plated 6 runs.
The scoring in the sixth was led off by a 2 RBI single by the scorching hot Quinn Blackman, followed by an RBI walk by Peter York, and a bases-clearing triple from Dante Messina. Messina then scored on a wild pitch.
The Lynx scratched across one more run in the 8th, as Peter York doubled, scoring Malcolm Rohlfing from second.
Andy Hanaway, Thomas LeMaster, and Noah Roland all recorded innings on the way to the Lynx' fifth consecutive win.
