RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) went 1 for 3 with a walk as the fourth-seeded and 16th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision to top-seeded and fifth-ranked Lynchburg on Thursday in the ODAC Championship.

How It Happened

  • After two scoreless innings, the Yellow Jackets put two on in the third. Sophomore Lincoln Lubsen (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) had a leadoff single and was sacrificed to second by junior Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello). Junior Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) was hit by a pitch before a double play ended the threat.
  • RMC put together a two-out rally in the fourth. Lautenschlager had a two-out single and went to third when senior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) smacked a ground-rule double. A strikeout ended the inning. The Hornets plated two in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Yellow Jackets had their best scoring chance in the eighth. Bush reached on an error and was sacrificed to second by Myers. Junior Anthony Farmakides (Falls Church, Va./McLean) drew a pinch-hit walk and senior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) singled to right to load the bases. Sophomore Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) hit a bouncer up the middle that was bare-handed by pitcher Jack Bachmore, who started a 1-2-3 double play to end the frame. LYN added an unearned run in the eighth to make the final 3-0.
