Homa homers to help Mulligan's 8k effort

KINGSTON, R.I. (Saturday, March 2, 2024) - Pre-season All-American Christian Homa (Fairfield, Conn.) launched a three-run third-inning home run to spark the Salve Regina University baseball offense and make a winner of Seahawk starter Sean Mulligan (Verona, N.J.) who improves to 2-0 after the 7-3 final against the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine at Bill Beck Field.

Mulligan worked six innings and struck out eight while allowing just one earned run. The Huskies (0-1) scored the first run of the game in the top of the third when sophomore Chris Quigley (Halifax, Mass.) tripled home Jack LeBlond (Lewiston, Maine) who had led off hit by a pitch.

Salve Regina (3-1) responded quickly as Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) singled and stole second before Tyler Cannoe (Schenectady, N.Y.) walked. Homa's homer was a first-pitch swing. Tyler Petrosino (Beverly, Mass.) added an RBI triple later in the inning. The Seahawks scored three more runs in the eighth inning highlighted by Michael Breen's (Auburn, Mass.) two-run homer to right field.

Christian Homa swung at the first pitch and lined a home run over the fence in right field.   • T9 - Jack LeBlond led off with a triple and became the only one of four triples in the game to score. Arrigo got Joe Bova to ground out to Nate Ruehs at second base.
