Maria, Bogart and Sedalis Help #10 Rowan Hold on for 5-4 Win over #7 Wisconsin La Crosse

DAVENPORT, FL - Dylan Maria drove in the go-ahead runs and recorded a save as #10 Rowan defeated #7 Wisconsin La Crosse in baseball action at the RussMatt Invitational, extending the Profs' winning streak to eight.

Joey Bogart and Phil Sedalis also hit a home run apiece to keep the Profs (8-1) in front the rest of the game.

UWL (2-2)  took the lead int he first inning on a home run by Joey Olver. But Rowan got that run back in the second inning after Jason Morgan tripled and then scored on a ground out by Karson Harcourt.

The teams battled through scoreless innings, with Zach Coluccio keeping the Eagles off the board. Maria came through in the sixth inning with a two-run single to score Tyler Cannon and Sedalis, who had both singled, and put the Profs up 3-1.

UWL scored again int he top of the seventh to cut the Rowan lead to 3-2, but Bogart answered with his first home run as a Prof to push the advantage to 4-2.

Sedalis knocked in the insurance run Rowan would need as he connected on his fourth home run of the year, to put the Profs ahead, 5-2, heading into the ninth.

UWL got two runs off Maria, but the senior was able to close out the game and the win for his first save of the year. Coluccio (2-0) earned the win with Jaxon Casdia pitching the seventh and eighth innings and allowing just one run.

The Profs continue at the RussMatt Invitational tomorrow against Bethel at 1:15 pm.
