Sedalis Has 4 Hits as #7 Rowan Rolls to 20-8 Win at Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA – Phil Sedalis had four hits, including a home run, as #7 Rowan exploded for a 20-8 win at Haverford in non-league baseball action in the Profs' first game back after their Florida trip. Rowan improves to 10-2 on the season.

Sedalis went 4-for-6, scoring two runs and driving in four as he hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning. Tyler Cannon, Dylan Maria, Anthony Schooley, Jason Morgan, Nick Struble and Joey Bogart each had three hits in the game. Maria knocked in three runs and Struble hit a home run as Rowan got 16 hits and took advantage of seven errors by the home team.

Charlie Russell (1-1) earned his first victory of the year in 3.1 innings of relief as he struck out three. Starter Jake Reese worked 2.2 innings while Shane Sax and Nick Cugino also saw time on the mound.

Haverford (9-4) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Struble tied it up right away with his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning. Haverford regained the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of that inning, on a single.

The Profs picked up four runs in the third, helped by three walks and one Haverford error, to take a 5-2 lead. Maria and Morgan each had an RBI single to help the cause.

Haverford scored two in the bottom of that inning to trail by just 5-4, but Rowan would build the lead up to 8-4 in the fifth. Another Haverford error and two walks aided the Profs, while Cannon and Sedalis drove in a run each and Bogart knocked in one with a sacrifice fly.

From there, the Profs added a total of 12 runs over the final four innings. Morgan scored one in the sixth on a passed ball. In the seventh, Rowan put together four hits to score five runs, highlighted by a two-run double from Maria.

Rowan scored two in the eighth as Haverford committed two errors, with Mason Dorsey crossing the plate on a passed ball and Schooley bringing home Bogart with a sacrifice fly.

The Profs closed it out with four runs in the ninth as Struble scored on an error and Sedalis drove in three with his fifth home run of the year.

Rowan hosts its home opener tomorrow, March 21st, taking on Neumann in a single game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
