LA PLUME, Pa. – The William Paterson baseball team (5-10) fell 9-8 to Keystone (12-5) in a non-conference road game March 26.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Giants plated a run in the bottom of the first before adding three more in the third to go ahead, 4-0.
- In the fourth, junior Giovanni Aresta belted a ball over the fence for his third home run of the season to pull the Pioneers within three (4-1).
- William Paterson erased the deficit in the fifth after plating six runs. Freshman John Bucher drew a base on balls to lead off the inning and scored after a costly error by the Giants on a single through the right side by sophomore Mike Novak.
- The Pioneers loaded the bases and a walk followed by back-to-back singles drove in four runs to put WP ahead, 6-4. With two outs in the frame and runners on the corners, junior Tom Radigan successfully executed the suicide squeeze and another run crossed to make it a three-run game (7-4).
- Keystone got a run back in the bottom half of the fifth before adding another in the sixth to trim the deficit to one (7-6).
- With two outs in the seventh, Radigan came up to bat and belted a solo home run to right to push the advantage to two (8-6).
