Baseball opens home slate with 7-6 win over Lesley

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University baseball team opened its home schedule Saturday with an exciting 8-7 win over Lesley (0-1) Saturday afternoon at the East Complex.
 
Trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the eighth, the Mustangs scored three runs in the bottom of the inning all with two outs including a delayed steal of home that brought in the winning run.
 
Matt Perri finished the day going 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Nick Tamberino and Anthony D'Angeli each had two hits and three RBI.
 
Jake Boden picked up his first save of the young season in relief of John Delgado. Boden allowed two hits in the bottom of the ninth, and got out of bases loaded situation. Delgado got the win, striking out one in one plus inning of wori.
 
Kyle Pellegrino started the game and went four innings, striking out six and walking five.
 
Stevenson took a 4-0 lead after three as Tamberino singled to third on a bunt, scoring Brandon Perillo. A three-run double by D'Angeli cleared the bases as Tamberino, Perri and Connor Wilkerson scored.
 
Lesley would score three in the seventh and three in the eighth to take a 6-5 lead.
 
In the eighth, Tamberino would single scoring Brady Bedway and Graham Sears to take a 7-6 lead, with Garrity stealing home for the final run of the game.
 
The two teams will finish their series tomorrow at noon with a doubleheader.
