#19 RMC Baseball’s Rally Falls Short at ODAC Championship

TYSONS, Va. – Senior Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) had two hits and two RBI, while junior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) smacked a three-run homer as the 19th-ranked and top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped a 10-7 decision to third-seeded Shenandoah on Friday in an elimination game at the ODAC Championship.

The Basics:

Score: Shenandoah 10, Randolph-Macon 7

Venue: Capital One Park

Records: RMC 28-13, SU 27-17

How It Happened:

  • The Hornets scored three in the first, five in the second and two in the third before the Yellow Jackets responded in the sixth. Sophomore Eli Brooks (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) had a one-out single and went to second when freshman Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) was hit by a pitch. A walk to sophomore Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) loaded the bases. Webb singled to left to knock in Brooks and Quici. Harvey belted a homer to left center, his 11th of the season, to make it 10-5.
  • RMC added a pair in the seventh. Senior Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) had a leadoff single. Brooks singled to right and both he and Bush moved up one base. A walk to Quici loaded the bases. A base hit by Schmitt plated Bush and Brooks scored on a double play as the Yellow Jackets pulled within three at 10-7.
  • The Yellow Jackets brought the tying run to the plate in the eighth but were unable to pull closer.
