U of R Baseball finishes three-day stretch 3-1

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands baseball team (6-2) ended their weekend with an 8-2 loss at The Yard Sunday afternoon against the University of Puget Sound.

While Phillip Economos held the Loggers scoreless through two innings the offense staged a two-out rally in the second with a hit-by-pitch for Sean McCance and a walk to Jake Burgess. Then CJ Brown came up and singled through the right side to make it 1-0.

Puget Sound tied the game and took the lead in the fourth. Redlands, though, held them scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings while Will Cell scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two in the sixth.

The Loggers on the other hand plated the winning run in the seventh and broke the game open in the ninth with five runs as the Bulldogs were unable to string together hits.

Brown was the lone batter to reach multiple times as he recorded two hits and an RBI. On the mound Economos went 3.2 innings. Kyler Bacosa struck out seven in 3.2 innings but took the loss in what was a 2-3 game when he left.

Redlands hosts Providence Christian College Tuesday afternoon with first pitch at 2 p.m.
