The two starting pitchers kept the game scoreless until the fourth when the Pirates scored the first run of the game on an RBI-double. Nate Miller, though, drove in a pair of runs on a two-run double as Mark Kirkland and Gabriel Ceja crossed the plate. Mason Chetcuti would make it three runs with a single to left.
In the sixth the lead grew to three, 4-1, thanks to a Tyler Barsness single that allowed Miller to score.

For the first time all series the Bulldogs were the first to strike as Ryan Morris come home on a Kirkland sacrifice fly.
The lead switched hands in the third when the Pirates went ahead 2-1 on a two-run double. The deficit would be short live, however, as Miller's run on a balk started a five-run fourth.
Later in that fourth inning, Barsness singled home Burgess, Horris hit his first collegiate home run and Kirkland also hit an inside-the-park home run to left center that the center fielder was unable to hold onto the ball as he hit the wall.
The final five Bulldog runs came on a Kirkland single, Ian Umscheid's first collegiate homer, Luke De Vries' infield single, and a single through the left side by Morris.
Nathan Buchan picked up his third win after throwing five innings. Gavin Duenez got the 12-out save as he struck out four pirates in his four innings.
