Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Lebanon Valley to Open Weekend Series

Rocky Mount, NC - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball team earned its first win of the season with a 9-2 victory in game two of Sunday's doubleheader against Lebanon Valley, after dropping the opener 15-8 at Bauer Field.


Game 1: Lebanon Valley 15, N.C. Wesleyan 8

Lebanon Valley capitalized on early defensive miscues from Wesleyan, scoring five unearned runs across the first three innings to build a 5-0 lead. The Dutchmen totaled fifteen hits, with Dylan Kreger launching a solo home run in the eighth.

The Bishops rallied in the fifth, plating four runs highlighted by Jacob Trivette's two-run homer to left, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Lebanon Valley responded with two runs in the seventh and exploded for eight in the ninth to pull away.

Trivette finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Colin Scoggins collected three hits. Nathanael Volk (0-2) took the loss despite striking out six over 6.1 innings.


Game 2: N.C. Wesleyan 9, Lebanon Valley 2

Wesleyan bounced back in game two, using a five-run fourth inning to seize control. Malachi Hayes tripled home a run in the third and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2. Maison Nance's RBI double in the fourth gave the Bishops the lead, and Jackson Hobbs added a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch RBI.

Preston Workman (1-0) tossed six strong innings, limiting Lebanon Valley to four hits and two unearned runs while striking out five. Travis Gamache went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Hobbs drove in three.
