Lynx Claim 9th Consecutive Win

The nationally ranked Rhodes College Baseball team continued their best start to a season in 30 years with yet another win yesterday. The defeat of Alma College marks the 9th victory in a row for the Lynx as they continue to roll early in the season.

The Lynx offense shined once again as they put up a total of 16 runs, ultimately ending the game with a run-rule. Cooper Angilly hit his first home run of the season in the bottom of the 2nd inning to tie the game 2-2. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Lynx added 10 more runs to their total thanks to notable performances from Quinn Blackman who cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double and Charlie Meyer who drove in 2 on a single. Brandon Trichell would go on to hit a home run in the inning, a 2 run shot that closed out the inning and extended the Lynx lead to 12-2. The following inning, Cooper Angilly picked up another RBI in the contest with a single to left that drove in Cooper KurigerBen Burkhart blasted his 5th homer of the season, scoring Cooper Angilly and plating the final runs for Rhodes.

The Lynx would finish the game with a run rule in the top of the 7th by a final score of 16-6. Their record improves to an impressive 10-1, their best start to a season in the last 30 years. They will hit the road this weekend as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama for a couple of games on Friday and Saturday before they return home on Sunday to face off against Fontbonne University.
