ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) had two RBI as the No. 13 Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped a 9-4 decision to Johnson & Wales on Monday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) drew a one-out walk and went to second on a base hit by junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's). With two away, senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./The Miller School) singled through the left side and bring home Wernoski. Senior Aidan Pinto (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) singled up the middle to knock in Schmitt and make it 2-0.
- After the Wildcats tied it in the top of the second, RMC reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the frame. With two away, sophomore Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) walked, went to second on a bunt single by Wernoski, advanced to third on a base hit by Schmitt and scored on a walk to Lautenschlager to give the home team a 3-2 edge.
- JWU put up five in the fifth, with three unearned, to take a 7-3 lead.
- Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) drew a leadoff walk in the seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lautenschlager to cut the deficit to three at 7-4.
- The Wildcats added two in the eighth and the game was called after eight due to darkness, making the final 9-4.

- RMC outhit JWU 12-9.
- Quici, Wernoski, Schmitt and Pinto each had two hits and a walk. Harvey also had two hits.
- Pinto and Harvey were also hit by pitches.
- The Yellow Jackets left 16 on base.
- Freshman Braxton Pope (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) made his collegiate debut, pitching 1.1 hitless innings with two strikeouts.
